Note to American Liberals (sic): The French Riots Show Your Leftist Shining Path is a Downward Spiral into the Abyss

OK, It's Sunday Morning, I'm ready to Rant, and Equinoxes won't cut it. I have read the morning papers, and the utter stupidity of the Left has my blood boiling hotter than my Sunday Morning decaf. Here is the Pew I am in today...

I hope the Leftists in this country are observing, with both eyes open, what the end result is of mixing "social justice" into what is supposed be a market economy in France. Just in case the short article article hidden in some MSM leftist rags (the short article was on page A12 in the Washington .comPost-Civilization) doesn't slap the Left with the absurdity of their ways, let me have Echo Nomix, our staff Economist here at Individ deCentral, take over.

"Thanks Individ. Between the Democratic State Legislature over at Maryland trying to fix the bad effects of their electric power price control, by using another price control, and the ignorance of 500,000+ French citizens regarding the most basic principles of economics, this has been a busy week in Echo Nomix.

OK, so what is going on in France? Well, it is hard to believe, if you are sane and rational, but here goes:

1. Believe it or not, the French actually try to run a market economy while making it difficult to fire anyone in a market down turn. The French (and the like-minded American Democrats [john kerry] ) sniff that the French System is fairer than the American System. This is the "Social Justice"-type philosophy that so many American Leftists would like to see instituted here. But, THE FACTS AND DATA show that this results in GDP growth that is small compared to ours, a standard of living that is lower than ours, and double-digit unemployment. The current, not-so-wacko Leftist government of France realized that "hey, if we make it nearly impossible to fire workers, employers won't hire anybody".

2. The consequence is that unemployment averages 23 percent among young people (e.g. recent universite' grads) and exceeds 40 percent in some poor neighborhoods.

No. Really?

3. So, to try to "solve" this problem (short of getting rid of the socialist stranglehold on the economy), they try to apply a government regulatory band-aid to fix their government regulatory excess (hmmm. The MD legislature must read French): Prime Minister Villepin argued that under existing labor laws, employers were reluctant to hire young workers because of job protections that make it all but impossible to fire workers, even if they are incompetent.

(Excuse me, I have to go wash my hands after typing that).

4. So, the PM proposed a new law that would allow companies to fire employees under age 26 at will during their first two years of work.

Imagine that. What will those "progressive" French think of next? Actually FIRE someone who is incompetent!?? C'est bon!

5. Quelle horreur! But, the very students who would be helped by this smidgen of rational, reasonable capitalist thought, ARE ACTUALLY PROTESTING BY THE THOUSANDS! Quel dommage! Here is a quote from a French student; it is so ignorant, so stupid, I just have to reproduce it here in English: "The government is just about to get rid of a social policy that took over a hundred years to build. Change shouldn't mean regression."

What was her major? Thanks Echo Nomix.

Just imagine that. 500,000+ people, who want the world to think of them as rational, are rioting in 160 cities in France, because the goverment was going to allow the possibility that they could be fired from their job: zut et zut. You reap what you sow. If your Universties are such dens of dustbin socialism (which country am I referring to now?), that students do not understand the basics of economics then you have no hope in the modern world. So, this is what Social Justice and Leftism buys you: rampant unemployment, and an economy that has a terminal disease, devouring itself from within. Hey Johny, AlGore, Hillary, et al.: let's have some of that French-style National Health Care, and whatever else they do over there, will ya?

Good Sunday Morning!
